2021 – Week 9 Picks - Jacknife Sports

Halloween is upon us, and it is week 9 of the 2021 season. Time sure does fly. There are a couple of big matchups in the Big 10, and lots of other intriguing games across the country this week. Michigan State and Michigan renew their rivalry with both teams ranked in the top 10. The winner of that will then have their sights on Ohio State - assuming Ohio State can come away with a victory against Penn State. The OSU-PSU games have typically been very close the past few years regardless of what records and rankings are. Cincinnati has to win with style points to get any sort of respect, even though a team like Oklahoma can barely beat a terrible team like Kansas and get the benefit of the doubt. Ole Miss takes on Auburn to see who keeps pace with Alabama in the loss column in the SEC west. And the big SEC east showdown between Georgia and Florida has lost some of its luster with Florida coming into the game with 3 losses already.

After this weekend we will have the first Playoff rankings revealed. If Cincinnati comes away with a win this weekend, it will be very interesting to see how the committee treats them. In years past they always come up with a justification to get the blue bloods into the Playoff and keep the Group of 5 teams out. One year it will be "game control", and another year it will be the "eye test" for their justification. At least Halloween is on Sunday so you don't have to miss any college games this weekend.
