2019 – Week 12 Picks - Jacknife Sports

There are some important matchups this weekend. Georgia has re-entered the top 4 of the Playoff rankings, but they must go on the road to Auburn. It's always tough to win on the road in conference, especially against a quality opponent. There are quite a few teams relying on Auburn as a quality win for their resume. But if everyone beats them, are they still considered a quality win? Minnesota has to go on the road to Iowa where many a teams' Playoff hopes have died. Minnesota has to make sure they don't have a huge letdown after their enormous win against Penn State last weekend.

Oklahoma has to go on the road to Baylor and really needs to put the smack down to reestablish their Playoff credentials. It looked like they were cruising against Iowa State, but then they gave up 20 points in the 4th quarter and were a dropped two point conversion pass away from actually losing that game. Texas is back in the top 25 and has to go to Iowa State. Whenever expectations are raised for the Longhorns, it seems like that's when they lose.

Ohio State and Clemson are playing in matchups that look like are name-your-own-score. Ohio State is a 52 point road favorite against a conference opponent. I don't have all the historical research behind me, but that seems like some sort of record for a point spread for that situation. Clemson is a 34.5 point favorite against what might be the second best team in the ACC. What a gross year for that conference. Clemson can't slip even a little bit if they want to remain in the top 4.
