2018 – Week 7 Picks

Last week finally brought our guessers back to reality.  Everyone was under .500 against the spread and only Kyle was able to get his straight up record above .500.  (Travis - 7-8 SU, 6-9 ATS.  Allan - 5-10, 7-8.  Kyle - 9-6, 7-8.)  There were quite a few upsets and teams covering large point spreads.  It all adds up to a mediocre week of picking.  Maybe this week will be better.

Week 7 has a solid slate of games.  There are a handful of top 25 matchups and other good games even if both teams aren't in the top 25.  It will be interesting to see if Texas has a letdown after a huge win over Oklahoma.  Is the schedule finally catching up with LSU as they have to take on another ranked team in Georgia this week.  Can Notre Dame avoid the upset against Pitt?  We know how Pitt has a history of derailing teams' seasons - isn't that right Miami and West Virginia?  Will Oregon take control of the PAC 12 north?  Does anyone care about the PAC 12 this year?  The PAC 12 south leader is playing in LA this weekend.  No, not USC.  It's undefeated Colorado taking on USC.  UCF goes on the the road to try to keep their nation leading unbeaten streak alive against a dangerous Memphis team.  West Virginia has crept up to #6 in the nation, but they have to travel to Ames which you never know which Iowa State team will show up.

What an odd year so far.  Not in terms of chaos, but just how it seems like we have a good feeling very early on that the Playoff field is already coming into focus.  Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Clemson really seem to be that top 5.  One has to be left out, but the debate so far is between those teams.  The Big 12 just keeps beating each other.  The PAC 12 has no signature victories for any teams.  If Ohio State falls in an upset it doesn't feel like another Big 10 team will be considered a contender.  Interesting to follow.

Teams on bye:  Clemson, Florida State, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington State, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Massachusetts, Cincinnati, Connecticut, SMU, Tulane, Florida Atlantic, UTEP, Georgia State
